Every country has different holidays with many customs and traditions. One of the most important public occasions in my country is the Victory Day that is connected with our history. It was introduced in 1945. It is widely celebrated on the 9th of May. This patriotic holiday marks the victory of the USSR over the Nazi Germany. Every year in honour of this day people enjoy beautiful parades and colourful fireworks. But May 9 is a sad day for the majority of our population because many people have lost their loved friends and close relatives during this ruthless war. In spite of this fact Russian people love the atmosphere of this day and congratulate each other because the Victory Day unites the nation.
