I am writing to tell you the results of the survey carried out among the local residents concerning the land to be developed.
The majority of the residents support the idea of creation of a large park. Our committee members and I support it too.
First of all, there are enough shopping facilities in our area and building a mall is not our first priority. At the same time, a large park can be our amusement and recreation spot. We need a safe place for kids to play and parents to bring their little ones, a place for physical activity that can also be the heart of our community. Besides, planting trees will help reduce air pollution in our town.
Taking everything into account we believe that we all will benefit from creating a large park.
I am writing to inform you that we have received the results of the survey conducted last week on the use of the land that had been donated to the local community by Mr Campbell. According to the results of the survey, the land has to be used for the creation of the park.
I am glad to say that almost all the members of the committee have been unanimous in their decision. Only three members out of 20 have been against this decision and have thought that it would be reasonable to build a shopping mall instead. Others, however, are strongly opposed to this option for some reasons.
First of all, I and the other 17 members of the committee have thought that it would be far more profitable for the local budget if the big park were built. We could place a number of attractions there, that would work from early spring till late autumn. Apart from that, we could place a number of booths there selling ice cream, sweets, lemonade and many other goods that children love so much.
Secondly, the majority of the committee consider building the park as the opportunity to create another recreational area for dwellers, who suffer so much from the lack of places available for doing sports and jogging. You are fully aware that the nearest place where local people can relax walking with children is 2 km away from the town centre which is rather inconvenient for them to get to. Moreover, the proposed park is going to be built far away from the industrial area of our town which would give our dwellers a chance to breathe fresh air.
Taking these points into consideration, the committee asks you to accept the results of the survey and sign all the necessary documents needed for starting the building of the park. We are pretty sure, we would have no shortage of people who would gladly volunteer in designing the park.
