You’ll never believe what I’m about to tell you! But first things first – as you already know, my family and I have just returned home from London. It was a long journey, even though we went there by plane. Our flight from Domodedovo to Heathrow took five hours, then there was a huge queue at the airport, and then we had to get to our hotel. Fortunately, the weather in London was great so the last part turned out to be quite pleasant.
During our stay, we did a lot of sightseeing. The place I liked the most was Westminster Abbey, a large Gothic building founded in 960, which has been the coronation church since 1066. The Abbey is also the final resting place of 17 monarchs and there are tombs of many poets, writers, warriors, and other famous people. This place is steeped in history, and I guess that’s why it has that special solemn atmosphere.
Well, now it’s time to tell you about the most extraordinary and unrealistic thing that happened to me. I saw a crime! We were walking down a market aisle when we saw a man trying to steal an old lady’s purse. While I was at a complete loss and didn’t know what to do, my dad went after the man, and someone called the police. I was so overwhelmed that I’m not sure what happened next but in the end the criminal was caught, and the purse was returned to the old lady. I really hope she’s OK now.
By the way, I’ve just remembered… last time we met you wanted to tell me the title of that Agatha Christie book about a skilful thief, but it slipped your mind. Did you manage to remember it? It seems that I’ve run out of good books to read.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Write back soon.
Yours,
