Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin was born August 26, 1870 in the district town of Narovchate in the family of an official, hereditary nobleman Ivan Ivanovich Kuprin (1834-1871), who died one year after the birth of his son. Mother, Lyubov Alekseevna (1838-1910), nee Kulunchakova, came from a kind of Tatar princes ]. After the death of her husband, she moved to Moscow, where the childhood and adolescence of the future writer passed. In six years the boy was given to the Moscow Razumovsky boarding school (orphanage), from which he left in 1880. In the same year he entered the Second Moscow Cadet Corps.
