In the last decade or so, social media has firmly entered our lives. The concept of "social media" itself covers several categories: blogs, live journal, forums, chat rooms, dating sites and, of course, social networks. Basically, all of them are platforms for remote communication between people, that is, for exchanging various types of information: text messages, music, photo and video content.
The following social networks are the most popular among young people: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vkontakte, etc. Some of them lose popularity over time, then others take their place.
On the one hand, a social network is a very convenient tool for quick messaging, finding old friends and new acquaintances, storing important information, and discussing current issues in groups, right from the comfort of your home. On the other hand, psychologists and psychiatrists around the world are sounding the alarm. Addiction to social media is too often the cause of serious mental and neurological disorders such as depression, social isolation, autism and even suicide attempts in teenagers and young adults. In my opinion, social networks can be both useful and dangerous, depending on who uses them and how.
