Відповідь:
As Charles waded downstream to fetch the boat, he noticed that the tide was ebbing. He hurriedly climbed in and hoisted the sail to catch the tide, but the boat failed to respond. He realized that the rudder was missing and tried to steer the boat with an oar. However, the oar broke, leaving him stranded. Charles then decided to anchor the boat and wait for the tide to turn, but he soon discovered that he had no matches to light a fire for warmth. He searched the boat but found none. Charles felt helpless and cold, and he wished he had been better prepared for his journey.
