Dear [Sam and Lily],
I am writing to you because [I want to express my gratitude to you for having me at your home for the whole summer season].
Thank you so much for [your hospitality and being so nice to me. I really felt at home and now that I recall those days tears come to my eyes – that much I miss you.]
It was a wonderful experience to stay with you, I had a great time! I especially enjoyed [going to the funfair with Rob and his friends. Have I told you that you have a brilliant son who would never let you down? Right, that is him. Or those night time fireworks at the backyard with the Smiths and their grandma? She was raving it, the old woman!] However apart from being fun, staying with you was also a useful experience for me since [I learnt with you both what it is like to be an easy-going person and to 'take it easy', as you put it. You know, in my country, most people keep their lips sealed unless they are spoken to directly. I think I have learnt to be a better person]. What helped me most was [making new friends. In my hometown, I hade close to zero opportunities to make friends with anyone – they all seem doomed, down in the dumps. Your community is a far cry from them, you are the best!]
I cannot thank you enough for your outstanding hospitality. I really appreciate it. Hopefully, you come to my place one day, too.
