Firefighters were working non-stop yesterday to control
a wildfire on the island of Gran Canaria. While 11 helicopters
were carrying water to the affected area, hundreds of soldiers
arrived to help the fire brigades. This morning, winds travelling
at 43 miles per hour were pushing the fire towards residential
areas. 5000 locals and tourists are now staying in temporary
accommodation on the island.
