Pawel Nikolaevich Yablochkov: who worked all his life as an ordinary electrical engineer in Paris. It was he who invented the first light bulb. It did not burn for long and had a light of dazzling power. Pavel was born on September 14, 1847 in Serdobsk. Paul was married twice. There were 4 children from their first marriage: Boris, Natalya, Alexandra and Andrei.
From the second marriage there was only one child: Plato, who was an engineer.
From childhood, Pavel loved to design. He invented a goniometer for land surveying, which the peasants of Petropavlovka, Baika, Sogosov and other neighboring villages used for land redistribution; a device for counting the distance traveled by a cart is a prototype of modern odometers.
In October 1875, having sent his wife and children to the Saratov province, to their parents, Yablochkov went abroad in order to show his inventions and achievements of Russian electrical engineering in the USA at the world exhibition in Philadelphia, and at the same time to get acquainted with the production of electrical engineering in other countries. However, the financial affairs of the workshop were finally upset, and in the fall of 1875, due to the circumstances, Pavel Nikolaevich ended up in Paris. Here he became interested in the workshops of physical instruments of Academician L. Breguet, with whose apparatus Pavel Nikolaevich was familiar even from his work when he was the head of the telegraph in Moscow. Breguet received the Russian engineer very kindly and offered him a place in his firm.
