Read what the children (a—d) say and match their words with the
statements (1—4).
1) This person would like to travel abroad.
2) This person was abroad in summer.
3) This person did some things together with his/her parents.
4) This person did some things together with his/her friends.
a) I’m Alina. I like to go to the country when I’m
on holidays. My grandparents live near a big lake.
I often go to the lake with my friends Kate and
Lucy. My friends and I swim in the clean water of
the lake, play volleyball and other games. When
we are tired, we sit down and talk, read books
and eat our sandwiches. The best thing about holidays
is that I can do what I want.
b) My name is Slava. My parents like travelling
and I often go to different places with
them. Last summer we went abroad and visited
some big cities in England. I liked Liverpool
best. Liverpool is the place where The
Beatles
1 were born. I love their songs very
much. There is a museum
2 of The Beatles in
Liverpool. I went there on the first day of
our visit. It was very interesting.
c) I’m Denis. Slava and I are friends. I enjoy travelling
too. I would like to go to Africa some day.
I want to see its plants, birds and animals. Now
I’m reading books about Africa. I want to know as
much as I can about this place. I think the best
way to travel in Africa is by car. From a car you
can see more than from a train or a plane. That
is why I’m planning to learn to drive a car when
I’m older.
d) I’m Pauline. All my family likes to go to
a small place on the Volga. We go there every
summer. We like this place: it is very
beautiful and there are not many people
there. There are a lot of fish in the Volga
and my dad likes fishing. I often go fishing
with him. We usually fish from a small
boat early in the morning. In the afternoon
I help my mum to cook fish for dinner
