Every year during the Stir-up Sunday in the UK, there are packs of customers swarming local shops in search of Christmas presents for their loved ones giving a hard time to the retailers. Some of the businesses struggle to survive during these bustling shopping sprees.
Brits save up for the special day for the whole year. Many of them can't afford to splash so they have to plan their spendings meticulously. More to it, schoolchildren, for example, who also want to make a present for their parents or siblings, have only their pocket money available to spend, thus, they have to save up the most. Some of them take part-time jobs in the shopping malls working as dogsbodies handing out leaflets.
Unfortunately, many Brits who hardly make ends meet, e.g. paying off student loans or are busy with taking care of their children and household chores, are faced with resisting many juicy temptations during this time—they have to say 'no' to many things. To scrape up the price of a present, they have to dig deeper into their pockets.
Luckily, Christmas is a happy time for everyone and eventually, every Brit manages to catch up with the merry spirit.
