We use plastic bags for carrying groceries, shopping items, and other goods.
According to a study by the Environmental Protection Agency, Americans use around 100 billion plastic bags annually, which is about 300 bags per person per year. Plastic bags are a major source of litter and can take 10-1000 years to degrade. They also pose a significant threat to marine life and wildlife.
To reduce the use of plastic bags, we can bring our own reusable bags when shopping, use cloth produce bags when buying fruits and vegetables, and opt for paper bags instead of plastic. We can also recycle plastic bags by taking them to designated recycling centers or using them as bin liners.
To help reduce the use of plastic bags, I will make a conscious effort to bring my own reusable bags when shopping and will encourage others to do the same. I will also try to use cloth produce bags when buying fruits and vegetables, and will recycle plastic bags when I can.
