On 29th of August,1831,Darwin(B1)a letter from Professor Henslow telling him that Captain Fitzroy wanted (B2)a youg naturalist to  sail around the world with him on board the ship Beagle.But Charles's father (B3)that such a voyage would be a waste of time.

The Beagle(B7) thousands of tons of preserved meats,vegetables, and soups.Darwin prepared for the voyage very carefully,too.Before he stepped on board the ship,(B8) a microscope,equipment for chemical analysis,a barometer,a compass,and a small library of books.
