Having a rather short body, it has long powerful legs, a wide chest and a massive hooked head with a swollen upper lip that hangs heavily over the lower lip. Its large ears are surprisingly mobile. A special sign of the animal is a leathery outgrowth 25-40 cm long in the lower part of the throat.
