Juvenile courts which are of Magistrates' courts, hear cases involving young people under the age of 17. They may be brought before the courts because they have been charged with some offence, or they are brought because they require care or protection .
Remand Homes: They are provided by local authorities for the custody of boys and girls under the age of 17 before their appearance in court, or between court appearances, or while they are waiting for a vacancy in an approved school. The main purpose of remand is for that of observation.
Approved Schools: They are residential school for boys and girls under the age of 17 years, who according to the court need not only removal from home, but also a longer period of training.
