You ask me to recommend a good book. Well, I think you should read "Peak" by Roland Smith. It's really an unputdownable book about a fourteen-year-old boy (his name's Peak) who climbs Mount Everest as well as tall buildings in New York City. I like the way the author describes all those physical and emotional challenges that Peak faces.
Sorry, but I have to go now. By the way, why did you decide to take a year out? What are you planning to do? Do your parents approve of your decision?
