the Hero of Socialist Labor (1948 and 1957). She was elected a deputy
in the parliament of the USSR several times.
Zuurakan Kainazarova died on 4 June, 1982. Her house was turned
into a museum. There one can see household items, clothes, tools,
documents, and government awards. Kainazarova was the heroine of
the documentary film Sahara Valley. Today, a secondary school in the
village of Chatkul, as well as streets in the villages of Sokuluk and
Asylbash are named after her in the Sokuluk district. Monuments to
her are situated on Erkindik Avenue in Bishkek and the square of the
regional center. On her birthday on 18 June, Kyrgyzstan celebrates
the Day of Rural Women.
