Some people don't believe the tales I tell. They cal them tall tales. Let me tell you a story about a man named Paul Bunyan. Some people say Paul was the world's largest baby. That may be true. He weighed fifty pounds an hour after he was born. Paul was like most babies in many ways. But his appetite wasn't like most! He could eat as much as a grown man. Also, his baby voice could be heard over forty miles away. Paul was very big right from the start. He grew strong and tall quickly. Soon his mother had to sew wagon wheels on his shirts. She used them in place of buttons. Finding a place for Paul to sleep was a real problem. His father solved it by making a boat in the shape of a cradle. Once Paul rocked his cradle very hard. The rocking made such great waves that they flooded towns along the coasts of Maine and Canada. Exactly how big was Paul Bunyan? No one knows for sure. Some say he was two hundred and forty-two ax handles high. Others say he was so tall that he could reach the moon in the sky. Everything about Paul was powerful, even his words. One year it was unusually cold. That year Paul's words froze as soon as they hit the air. His loggers put the frozen words in a stewing pot. They put the pot on the stove and let the words melt. That happened the year before the Winter of the Blue Snow.
