Alice started to fall down into a deep well very slowly and she had time to look at the sides.She saw cupboards and book-shelves maps and pictures. Then she noticed a jar with a lable "orange marmalad" and took it from a shelf but it was empty. So Alice put the jar into one of the cupboards as she fell past it.
Alice was falling down, down, and down. She could not do anything else and soon she began talking to herself "Dinah wiil miss me very much" (Dinah was her cat) "oh,Dinah,my dear!I wish you were with me! Of course there are no mice in the air so you could catch a bat .But do cats eat bats?" Here Alice got sleepy again and she started saying to herself"Do cats eat bats?Do cats eat bats? " and sometimes " Do bats eat cats?" She began to dream that she was walking with Dinah hand in hand saying"Now Dinah tell me the truth :did you ever eat a bat? "But suddenly the fall was over

Алиса начала очень медленно падать в глубину, поэтому у неё было время для того,чтобы рассмотреть стороны норы. Она увидела шкафы, карты на книжных полках и картины. Затем она заметила банку с наклейкой, на которой было написано "апельсиновый мармелад", она взяла её с полки, но банка оказалась пуста. Поэтому Алиса поставила банку обратно на полку , но та упала мимо.Алиса продолжала падать всё ниже,ниже и ниже. Она не могла больше ничего делать и вскоре начала беседовать сама с собой "Дина будет очень по мне скучать!" (Дина была её котом), "Ох, Дина, моя дорогая!Как бы я хотела, чтобы ты была сейчас рядом! Конечно, в воздухе мышей нет, но ты могла бы поймать летучую.Но едят ли коты летучих мышей?". Тут Алиса снова начала засыпать, поэтому она опять заговорила с собой:"Едят ли коты летучих мышей?Едят ли коты летучих мышей?" и иногда " Едят ли летучие мыши котов?". Она начала видеть сон,в котором она прогуливалась под руку со своей кошкой Диной,беседуя с ней:"Дина, скажи мне правду: ты когда-нибудь ела летучих мышей?". Но внезапно её падение закончилось.
