помогите выбрать past simple или past perfect

Few months ago we travelled to Europe. We (1)... (go) to Valencia - a lovely city in Spain which is situated right by the Mediterranean sea. We (2).. (have) a wonderful time in Valencia but unfortunately there were some unpleasant situations too. One day we (3) (decide) to rent bicycles to ride through Gardens of Turia. By that time we (4) (already visit) Turia gardens few times and (5) (realize) that they were too large to explore by walking. We (6)... (rent) bikes for 24 hours, (7)... (have) an enjoyable day and for the night time we (8) (leave) them in the hall of the building where we were staying. Next morning we (9). (discover) that something terrible (10)... (happen). Somebody (11)... (break) our bikes. They (12) (remove) the seats and our tires were flat as well. We were very upset. We had pay the rental company a hundred euro as a compensation for breaking their bikes. Next time we won't leave our bicycles outside of the apartment!
