This story is set in Wales in the Middle Ages. There was a prince whose name was Llevellyn. He lived in a valley. He had a baby-son. He also had a dog called Gelert. One day the prince went hunting. He left the dog to watch the baby. Some wolves came out from the wood. They ran to the house. The dog saw the wolf and hid the baby. The dog ran out and fought the wolves. He killed two but was wounded. He was tired and lay down to sleep. When the prince came back, he saw the dog covered in blood. He didn’t see his son anywhere. He killed the dog because he thought that the dog couldn’t defend the baby. Then he heard the baby cry and found him. Through the window he saw the two dead wolves and understood everything. Then he buried the dog and collected some stones to mark the grave. You can still see it today.
