The first Olympic Games took place in 776 B.C. in small-town Olympia, Greece
. Firstly, only Greek men were allowed to participate. They competed in running, jumping, boxing, horse and chariot racing. Games were held every four years, and the winners were presented with a crown of olive branches. But the games were banned in 394 A.D. by the Roman emperor Theodosius I because they conflicted with Christianity.
After a long period, French Educator Pierre de Coubertin decided to revive the Olympic Games to encourage athletes for youth.
.Nowadays, the Committee decides the program of the Games, the number of the participants, and the place where the next Olympiad will be held. The first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896 in Athens, Greece. Athletes from 13 countries participated in the Games. Today, there are The Summer Games and The Winter games. The Summer Games are held during the summer season. They last for 16 days and include more than 270 sports events.
They include over 60 sports events.​
