Karkaralinsk emerged in 1824 as a military fortification of the Russian Empire. In 1827, the Karkaralinskaya Cossack village was formed on the basis of the fortress. In 1849 and 1850, Ukrainian Cossacks were resettled to strengthen the settlement in the village [5]. Since 1869, Karkaralinsk has received the status of a city [6].
From Kazakh legends. (Legend about the founding of Bayan-aul).
... Gathering on the road, she [Bayan] took with her the bride's wedding headdress, decorated with black feathers and therefore called a kar-kara and a dagger. On the way to the Kuzugur-pecha camp, she left this dress in one of the villages, and since then this aul began to be called Kar-kara, and then Kar-kary - the name that remained behind the Cossack village founded on this place (now the city of Karkaralinsk). An architectural ensemble is installed on the central square - a monument dedicated to freedom fighters; in the city park - the monuments of "Military Glory" and "Grieving Mother". Memorial plaques were installed on the houses where Abai Kunanbayev and GN Potanin lived.
