A. This exhibition gives you an idea of 18th- and 19th-century St Petersburg by

bringing together works by both Russian and foreign artists of the time. As well

as paintings of St Petersburg, its outskirts and northern islands, the exhibition

also includes representations of daily life at the time and images of the city's most

famous mansions and grand buildings. You will be able to go back in time and

learn about different aspects of city life.

B. The Anna Nova art gallery is a two storey building where you can mainly see the

works of young, up-and-coming local artists. It is a great place just to pop in for a

visit. The curators and experts are from no less than the State Hermitage Museum,

so the quality is guaranteed. It is probably not surprising that exhibitions typically

present traditional works on paper and canvas though with modern pop ideas.

C.This gallery hosts a vast variety of art. Its quick turnover (exhibitions usually

change twice a month) makes the gallery particularly eclectic. The exhibitions.

both individual and collaborative, reflect experiments with printing, mixed media

and photography. The gallery hall itself is roomy and airy and uses its space well.

Although the gallery basically exhibits local artists, it welcomes and encourages

artists from other places and countries.

D.Situated below street level, this charming gallery displays exciting work. It has a

deservedly high reputation in the city. Various mediums are displayed, including

paintings, graphics and applied art. Turn left as you enter and you will find a

cave-like room stuffed with trunks of classic domestic and international DVDs.

Turn right and you'll see several more galleries, plus a bookstore primarily selling

local art books, periodicals, postcards and even original works.

E. It is a huge ex-bus depot that has been turned into one of the most successful

art spaces in Moscow. As well as hosting massive exhibitions, the space is also

used to get the general public involved in the city's art scene. There are regular lectures, film screenings and performances, an excellent cheap cafe, a bookshop

and special fun and creative weekend excursions for families with young children

F.An ex-paper factory (part of which is still functioning) is a non-profit space tor

contemporary visual art. This industrial yard with hidden expansive exhibition

spaces is well known for being home of contemporary dance and dance theatre

in Moscow. They also stage concerts and show experimental films. Not long ago

hey celebrated their 5th birthday and many special events are still going on there.
