In 1870 Mark Twain was walking along the streets of Boston when he noticed in a shop window a machine he had never seen before. He entered the shop, asked te shop-assistant how the machine worked and bought it for 125 dollars. He took the machine home and started practising on it at once. The machine was a typewriter and Mark Twain typed a whole book on it.
"Tom Sawyer" was the first book Mark Twain has typewritten.
