A SUCCESSFUL WRITER
Agatha Christie is one of the most successful writers ever. She was
born in England in 1890 and during her lifetime wrote 66 detective
novels and six romantic novels. She died in 1976.
She created two famous characters, the Belgian detective Hercule
Poirot and the British character Miss Marple. Agatha Christie has
sold over two billion books. Her stories have been popular around
the world and people have read them in over 103 different
languages.
Agatha Christie was very imaginative and wrote many exciting
stories about murders and mysteries. Some of the books have
become films including Murder on the Orient Express.
There was also a mystery about the real Agatha Christie. In
December 1926 she disappeared. Over a thousand police officers
looked for her and a newspaper offered a reward of £100. She
appeared again after 10 days.
