The Sahara is the largest and hottest desert in the world, but in winter it can also be very cold. In most parts of the desert it is sunny for twelve hours every day, but in other parts it sometimes rains. There are many animals that live in the Sahara. There are also different plants and trees in places where there is enough water. But most of the desert is just sand – lots and lots of sand! Not many people live in the desert, because it is such a difficult environment. A few people move from one part of the desert to another with their camels and goats. These people live in big tents. The Sahara Desert is in the north of Africa between mountains, the sea and a very long river called the Nile. During the year lots of people from all over the world visit the Sahara Desert. They come in groups in big cars. They all have cameras and take lots of photos.
