Charles Perrault was born on January 12, 1628 in Paris in the family of the judge of the Paris Parliament Pierre Perrault and was the youngest of his six children (his twin brother Francois was born with him, who died after 6 months). Of his brothers, Claude Perrault was a famous architect, one of the authors of the east facade of the Louvre (1665-1680). Perrault studied at the University College Beauvais, which, however, he left before completing his studies. He bought a lawyer's license, but soon left this position and went as a clerk to his brother, the architect Claude Perrault.
