Students should have compulsory art and music classes at school every day. Do you agree?
(Opinion essay)
The purpose of school education is to prepare young people for adulthood, provide them with necessary skills and abilities, and help them develop their abilities to the maximum. Undoubtedly, such subjects as Arts and Music should play an important role in this, so I am convinced that these subjects should be taught at our schools every day.
In the first place, visual arts and music lessons help to develop our cognitive skills and improve overall school performance. For example, it is known that music stimulates the parts of the brain associated with such skills as reading and math, and emotional development, while both music and art improve our memory.
Furthermore, music and art develop our imagination and ability to creatively relate to life. When listening to music and looking at paintings and sculptures we can learn to empathize, be more attentive to others. Moreover, these subjects can help us relieve everyday stress.
On the other hand, there are children and adults who find art and music lessons to be a waste of time. They think that nowadays it is more important to study exact sciences. But, in my opinion, one cannot become a successful specialist without having a broad outlook, curiosity and creativity, which are developed through music and art.
All things considered, I believe that increasing the number of music and art lessons in our schools will benefit all students and help them become well-rounded individuals.
