*Altyn-Emel*

Altyn-Emel is a national natural park in the Almaty region with an area of more than 307 thousand hectares. The local landscape is based on mountains, as well as sand and clay deserts. It was established in the spring of 1996 in order to preserve the unique natural places with their characteristic plants and animals, many of which are endemic. There are also 21 species of plants and 56 species of animals listed in the Red Book. One of the most important attractions is the Kosbastau tract with a 700-year-old willow tree growing there.
