Claude Monet was a French painter. He was born in 1840. At the age of 11 he went to art school. He sold his drawings for 10 to 20 francs. In 1861 he joined the army in Algeria. In 1870 he spent a year in England and the Netherlands. In 1890 his paintings became popular and he bought a house in Giverney, France. In 1911 Claude Monet had problems with his eyesight but continued to paint. In 1926 he died at the age of 86. Today, his paintings are popular all over the world today.
