Helen Oyeyemi is a British writer. She has written and published a number of novels, plays and short stories. She wrote her first novel, The Icarus Girl,in 2005,while she was only 17 and still at school. She didn’t stop studying. She went to Cambridge University, where she wrote two plays and students at the university performed them in a theatre. Later, a publisher turned them into books.
Helen’s novels have very different settings and are all interesting works of fiction. Her latest book is called What is not yours is not yours and it is a collection of short stories. It came out in 2016. There are many different characters in these stories, and they happen at different times and in different places.
Helen grew up in the UK, but in 2014 she moved to Prague in the Czech Republic and has lived there ever since. She has received a number of prizes for her writing an continues to write in her new country.
