Wildlife Answer the following questions. Type in no more than three words or/and a number. Text 1. What has threatened the existence of wild animals according to the text?  2. What can we stop except habitat loss according to the text?  Since man was born, he has been damaging the Earth’s ecological balance by cutting down trees, killing animals and doing similar activities for food and shelter. With the increase in population man’s requirements from nature have increased.
Modern technology enables humanity to control nature, further disturbing the balance. Industrial pollution has threatened the existence of wild animals to such an extent that certain species have become extinct.
Thousands of different wildlife species are monitored by conservation scientists in habitats across the world. They recorded an average 68% fall in more than 20,000 populations of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish since 1970.
The largest declines of 94% are in tropical areas such as Latin America and the Caribbean, which is the largest anywhere in the world.
In 2019, scientists concluded that one million species (500,000 animals and plants, and 500,000 insects) are threatened with extinction, some within decades.
We can stop habitat loss and deforestation if we take urgent conservation action and change the way we produce and consume food.
