Percy Spencer was born on July 9. 1894, in Maine,
USA. He was a scientist who Invented the microwave.
Percy's father died when he was a baby and after his
undle also died, when he was seven, he had to leave
school and get a job. Every day Percy worked very hard
from the early morning till the end of the day to help
his family
Whon he was 18 Percy joined the Navy. He was very
interested in electricity and science and taught himsel
all about physics, chemistry and radio technology in the
evenings!
One day dunng an expenment with microwaves, he
noticed that a chocolate bar in his pocket nad melted
Pency decided to experiment with different foods and
invented the microwave The frst microwave in 1947 WOS
nearly two metres ich and cost 3.000 dollars! He died on
September 8.1970, aged 76,
