S Every country has one or more very special places. These can be buildings, old cities, statues or even mountains. These places are very important to the people of that country. Sometimes the places are famous around the world too. At Angkor, in Cambodia, there is an ancient stone city. Some of the buildings are about 2,000 years old. Angkor Wat is one of them. It is a very important temple in Cambodia. There is even a picture of it on the Cambodian flag. It has around a million visitors a year. re Machu Picchu is in Peru. It is an Inca city in the Andes mountains and it is 550 years old. There are many buildings there - temples, palaces, houses and gardens. There is also a pyramid. It is a very important place for learning about the Incas. It has about a million visitors a year. The Taj Mahal is in the city of Agra, in India. It is a very famous and beautiful mausoleum, for a queen called Mumtaz Mahal. About three million people visit it every year. It is 360 years old. Stonehenge is a very famous monument in the UK. It is an ancient stone circle. People began building it about 5,000 years ago, but even today, we are not sure how, or why it is there. Around 800,000 people a year visit Stonehenge from all over the world.​
